Having started Christmas Day with the opening chorus of Bach’s Weihnachts Oratorium, “Jauchzet, frohlocket!” I was going to bookend it with the final chorus today – but having searched for a suitable video I decided that you should have a bigger slice of Bach.

Yes – Winter Came
We didn’t have a “quiet choice” yesterday so today we make up for it with three minutes or so to sit back – close your eyes – and drift off to sleep because you did too much yesterday ๐
The First Carol Of The Day
Happy Christmas to all from the Band.
Welcome Christmas
and after the proclamation from John Tavener what better than Bach to welcome the day. From the Christmas Oratorio :
Into Christmas
Music to go into Christmas Day – again I’ve chosen something a little less well known.
A Frosty Christmas Eve
Seems like a good time to wish everyone a Happy Christmas – within whatever restrictions that you find yourselves at the moment. I think that most people will find Christmas 2020 to be rather different from any previous year!
Advent In Wien
One of the CDs that I frequently listen to at this time of year is “Advent in Wien” – a collection of readings and carols played by the Vienna Horns. Sadly I couldn’t find any of it online to share with you – instead here is the Art of Brass Vienna playing a few of the carols (bizarrely posted on YouTube in April 2014). It is already Christmas Eve in Wien.
The Best Kings
Today’s share is the best arrangement of “We Three Kings” – or at least I think it is ๐
Not The Usual Sleigh Ride
There are a number of musical depictions of a “Sleigh Ride” – this one is by Delius – a composer whose music I must admit I sort of more readily associate with Spring and Summer – must have been a particularly sunny day for the sleigh ride I guess ๐
Christmas Fantasia
Our School had its major concert of the year at Christmas. Although the programme was not entirely Christmas themed I did get to play and sing a lot of seasonal music.
