Welcome

Welcome to Music

This set of posts started out as a daily post on Facebook during the “lockdown times” in 2020/21 – sharing pieces of music that had some sort of ‘connection’ for me. They are, of course, a bit difficult to find on FB after all this time so I decided to recreate them here – alongside the many comments that were made on the original posts. Now that they have all been ported across I have started to add some extra posts to expand the original selection.

A Lesson Learned (On Being Stuck)

I’ve started on my newest online creation – partially inspired by the making memories series of posts here – to create a bit of a “life history” – a treasure trove of memories (probably real and imagined if you have read some of my previous writing on the subject) – a pot-pourri of little highlights (and possibly some lowlights) of my life.

The Ignorance Trough

Where do I go to feed my ignorance? The answers are limitless really and, simplistically, I go where life takes me. However, there are some sources that have proven to be of more interest than others to me and that is the point of this post. I have been lax in adding sources to this page – resurrecting it like this may help me be more pro-active.

Still Hungry!!

The title of this blog “Feeding My Ignorance” is derived from the Terry Pratchett quote that appears at the top of the Wiki page.  This allied to the Einstein quote on the this page illustrates that my take on ignorance is not a negative one – and that the fact that my ‘perceived’ ignorance is increasing is actually a very positive (if paradoxical) sign of increased knowledge.

A Partial Summary

Although the entries in this blog are sporadic and are not following any particular pattern there are a few themes that run through them and which recur in different posts.  I’m just thinking that it might be as well to provide a bit of a summary and a few links to enable easier browsing between related posts.

A Long Hiatus

It probably was not the plan to have a brief flurry of activity in this blog followed by quiet for months – but that is how it has turned out – almost echoing what was one of the first posts in the series which stated Prediction is difficult – especially about the future.

Hopefully things are now back on track and I have a number of topics that I want to ponder in coming posts – especially regarding systems thinking and a number of extremely interesting discussion taking place in the Systems Thinking World group of LinkedIn.  I would certainly recommend that if you are interested in the concept of thinking in systems that you visit, join and contribute to that group.

Welcome to My Library

The posts in this collection are about books that I have read. As it is with the other collections, there are some still to be ported over from their previous home. Once the collection is complete you will be able to see my – pretty eclectic – reading tastes. There is usually a short summary of what I thought of the book – the more ‘thoughtful’ books getting a longer summary.

I should also add that I really have read some books since 2020 😉
