For St David’s day (can’t find any daffodil or leek emojis!! 😃)

Gospel Music at Last
I was planning on something else for today (rather different from this choice 😂) and then this popped up on my FB feed (thanks Duncan Hopkins) and it seemed like an excellent choice for today.
Back to the Roaring Twenties
Something completely different…..
English Pastoral Music
Change of style, change of instruments, change of pace….
Shostavovich on Brass
This is a fun piece of music that I enjoyed playing both in its original form and with the Band. This is a new arrangement (or new to me at least) – and some really good playing.
It’s That Paganini Theme Again
One composer that I thoroughly enjoyed playing and listening to – and who has been a bit under-represented in my shares – is Rachmaninoff.
Back to Bach
I’m staying with that old Reader’s Digest collection today. The first disc included the Brandenburg Concerto No.1 and it is interesting to think that, assuming I started with Disc 1, this may have been the first piece of classical music I had listened to.
Another Great Symphony
Today it is yet another work from that 12-disc set from Reader’s Digest that formed the foundation of my classical music education.
Early Music From Britain
Earlier in the week we had a couple of examples of music of the European Renaissance. Both Orlande de Lassus and Tielman Susato were from what we might refer to as the Low Countries. Today we cross back over the channel to hear music of one of the greatest British composers – William Byrd.
A Musical Depiction of the Sea
Debussy has been represented several times in my posts – however I have yest to share what is my favourite music written by him. So we will rectify that this evening.
