I’ve mentioned before about the fact that my time in Vienna included many (and varied) musical experiences. With many concert halls, opera venues, theatres which often had musicals and – during the summer – many outdoor venues it was rare to have a day with no choice as to what to attend.

Even Earlier Music
Today we go back even further to 1551 and dance music played by the Early Music Consort led by David Munrow. This is another example of the contents of my LP collection!
On Ash Wednesday
No variations on Paganini today (although I was tempted!) – instead some choral music for Ash Wednesday.
Another Take on the Same Theme
Yesterday’s choice was (as I am sure many of you already knew!) on a composition of Paganini – a piece of music that seems to have inspired more arrangements and transcriptions than just about anything else I know.
Modern Variations on an Old Theme
Something ‘big’ today – but should it be something ‘heavy’ or something ‘light’.
A Sunday Prayer
There are a number of versions of this song available – this one appeals to me because of its simplicity.
Russian Brass
When I posted this originally on facebook it was just a few hours after I posted this image of me performing many years ago.
From The East
Not the usual gentle offering for a Friday – instead something that I “tripped over” accidentally this week.
From Colder Climes
As playing music representing warmer climes doesn’t seem to working as far as raising the temperature today a piece from a Swedish composer – perhaps we can feel warmer by thinking of somewhere that is even colder 😃
Imagining Spain
A Russian imagining Spain – perhaps he was also in the middle of a cold snap and needed to think warm thoughts -I’m sure I have played this – but can’t remember where or when!
