Today it is yet another work from that 12-disc set from Reader’s Digest that formed the foundation of my classical music education.
It seems they had some sort of fixation on the number three – Beethoven’s third symphony, Brahms third symphony and this – Schumann’s third symphony (Rheinische) were all included. This is, almost certainly, my favourite of Schumann’s symphonies.
