Most of the music that I am sharing has been in my head for a long time – however that does not stop me finding plenty that I haven’t come across before and today’s peaceful selection falls in to that category.
Two Heads Better Than One
Continuing this week’s somewhat eclectic mix here is something that I played this week – 49 years ago! Unusually it is composed by two people rather than one and is perhaps something that you may not have heard before.
As Close To Heaven As You Can Get
Its not Friday – but it is a reflective piece of music. One of the comments on this video says “as close to heaven as you can get without actually going there” – which sort of sums it up.
Marathon
You will all be familiar with FB memories and today I had one from 35 years ago – yes, somewhat pre-facebook – and that has inspired my music choice. Those of you who are runners – and many who are not – will immediately make the connection.
Missing Trumpets
The “full work” this Monday is again not too long. None of the symphonies of Schumann have featured in my choices so far – its time to change that.
Trombone Choir
This was originally composed as a choral piece. The text is taken from the Psalms
Not (Entirely) Die Federmaus
What I said about tuesday’s choice – that when you “mess about” you first of all have to be proficient and secondly must throw your all into it – is supremely evident in today’s video. Also a second chance to play “spot the tune” as there are quite a few included that are most certainly not part of the original overture to Die Fledermaus.
Gorgeous Songs – Gorgeous Singing
OK – so I admit that I am pushing it a bit to claim that today’s choice is “not the original” version – however, the order of the songs is not the same as the order they were composed and different again from the order at the original performance – so I can just about claim it!!
Early Rock
This daily music post all started because I was challenged to post twenty album covers. I have included excerpts from most up until now – here is another one.
Mellow Maria
Very different to yesterday – I think this is a great arrangement – and some really lovely horn playing on it as well. (actually it is a great CD as a whole)
