The “full work” this Monday is again not too long. None of the symphonies of Schumann have featured in my choices so far – its time to change that.
The 4th is, perhaps, not his best known – but strangely enough it is one of the orchestral works that I found myself playing multiple times. That included one ‘memorable’ concert when the entire trumpet section failed to make it back in time from their interval refreshments 😲😂😂
Turns out that you can do this symphony without the trumpets – pretty much – just needs the horn section to work a bit harder 🙂
