As playing music representing warmer climes doesn’t seem to working as far as raising the temperature today a piece from a Swedish composer – perhaps we can feel warmer by thinking of somewhere that is even colder 😃

Imagining Spain
A Russian imagining Spain – perhaps he was also in the middle of a cold snap and needed to think warm thoughts -I’m sure I have played this – but can’t remember where or when!
Up In The Hills
From one lot of hills to another. Although this music is often used at Christmas time, for me it evokes pictures of sunshine on the hills – and that is just what we need to warmup today!!
The Big Country
When it was very warm I remember sharing music such as the Sinfonia Antartica – so its only right that now we have cold weather that I should source my shares from warmer climes.
Timeless Music
Today I am sharing a setting of the Magnificat by Arvo Pärt. Although a modern composer – as demonstrated by the harmonies that are used – his works also seem to hark back to much older styles. Certainly the sort of music that you would not be surprised to hear from the cathedral choirs.
Bringing Out The Big Guns
A bit of fun for Saturday night. To complete my percussion week I am rolling out the big guns – and I mean really – big guns. It is, I guess debatable whether guns count as percussion, but in all the performances I have been involved with “cannons” its been the percussion section’s task to coordinate them – never with guns quite this big though!!
Not The Original Instrument
I know you are all thinking that I can’t possibly continue the percussion theme into the “smooth and gentle” episode that is Friday. Well try this one…..
Tiny Blue Man Desk!
Just going to get this in today – for most I guess you won’t see it until tomorrow!! Better late than never as they say.
A Legend
We continue the percussion season – after yesterday’s “precision” today we have something VERY different – but equally impressive in its own way.
Imaginary Worlds
Not sure where this will go, but I have been thinking about this for a few days and it would seem sensible to try and map out some preliminary ideas. Also it is rather a long time since I was active on this blog.
