Across to the Wild West

The Glasgow Schools summer camps in July finished with a concert in the town where the camp took place (or in some cases, like the 1st Orchestra, in a town nearby – Dunoon) that was repeated in Glasgow during the autumn. This meant that those who had been in their final year at school sometimes missed out on the repeat concert – having gone on to University or whatever.

That was how I got to play this piece – drafted in to replace whoever had been principal horn for what was a really good concert (Portsmouth Point, In The South, and the Tchaikovsky Romeo and Juliet alongside this piece) conducted by Meredith Davies.

This is the concert suite – not the full ballet – to the best of my memory it was this suite that we played! (it was a long time ago…..)
