Think it is time for something lighter – this is from Mozartwoche Salzburg a few years ago and I am sure it will bring a smile – mostly to my Scottish friends!!🏴🏴

A Rather Less Pleasant Memory
Not every memory triggered by music is necessarily a pleasant one. Today’s takes me back 48 years to the terrible events at the Munich Olympics. The following day there was a memorial service in the stadium which opened with the Funeral march from the Eroica symphony and finished with this – Beethoven’s Egmont Overture.
A Vienna Memory
OK – so I am pretty sure that there will be only a limited audience who appreciates today’s choice – but it is another one of those pieces of music that takes me back to a specific time/place.
A Horn Memory
According to a post by the International Horn Society it seems that today is David Krehbiel’s birthday.
Stormy Music
One of the set works when I sat the Scottish Higher Music exam was Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony – so continuing the weather theme here is the “storm” movement – we were originally promised (threatened) with a storm tonight, but it looks like it isn’t actually coming here!
Better Than My Effort
Just noticed that yesterday was a milestone in my daily music posts – number 100! Today is also an auspicious day in terms of my Glasgow Schools reminiscing – the 16th is the only one that I have two different concerts to choose from.
A Scottish Symphony
Going to be some music from and inspired by Scotland over the next few days. Don’t worry – no bagpipes (yet) – I will let you in easily.
Ruy Blas
Another overture by another composer who has been conspicuously absent from my posts.
Quiz Number 2
These quiz questions were originally posted in facebook with a very short clip as a clue – so here I will post the clues before the teaserbreak. The task is to identify the composer and the music.
The Second Question
A Lovely Voice
I confessed to my favourite composer being Anton Bruckner the other day – but I do find it hard to name my “favourite …”, whether it be favourite music, favourite performer or whatever. My moment of calm for the Friday is a song by someone who might just be my favourite singer (sorry to all my singing friends – you didn’t quite make the top of the list 😀)
