Apart from popular songs like I shared yesterday the King’s Singers also performed a huge range of “classical” music from all of the history of music. A Capella singing has been around a long time!! I particularly enjoyed many of their “early music” songs – but today’s offering would have been a bit beyond six of them. It is Thomas Tallis’ 40-part “Spem in alium”.

Now This Is Music
For the third Sunday in a row I am linking some unaccompanied vocal music – not bad for a brass player!
The Lord Is My Shepherd
Like last Sunday, my link is to an a capella song – but the music is very different from last week’s offering.
Remembering
When I started my daily music posts I mentioned that it was partly inspired by a radio programme. I well remember on a Saturday afternoon walking from home to Ibrox stadium to watch the football – my transistor radio (yep it was that long ago) held to my ear listening to that programme.
A Moment Of Reflection
Tonight would have been my turn to provide the closing thought at our Band rehearsal. Instead I am doing “virtual devotions” for our band on a zoom call. Thursday is our usual rehearsal night and we have started having an online get together after the “Clap for the NHS”.
Something On My Mind
One of the album covers I shared was The King’s Singers “Out of the Blue”. This was one of the first recordings of this group that I bought and it was definitely an oft-played LP for a few years.
Orthodox Easter
I will come clean up front in this post and say that I am sure that there will be plenty who do not appreciate this music – but then again, I suspect that is true not only of these links I am posting, but of every piece of music ever written 😃
Angelic Choir
When I was living and working in Wien there were lots of things about my life that were very different to the ‘normal’ that I had become used to. Perhaps none more so than the Sunday routine which was slightly strange in that all of a sudden I had nothing that I HAD to do on a Sunday. More often than not I would find a concert to attend – there was certainly no lack of choice in the city and my flat was within walking distance of the Musikverein, the Konzerthaus and the Staatsoper.
Music For Spy Wednesday
I am not intending this series to have much of a theme usually, but it seems right that over the next few days I post some music that fits in some way with Easter.
