I mentioned the other day about all of the events that the Band would normally be taking part in during this Christmas season – the good news is that some small groups have been and will be able to be out playing some carols. Still far from normal, but it will hopefully bring a bit of Christmas cheer to some people.

Boscombe Band In Norwich
Its been a while since I featured our Band on these Sunday choices – so I better rectify that! A few years ago we visited Norwich Citadel for the weekend and – for the first time – appeared on Facebook Live! Unfortunately they had some technical issues during the first part of the Saturday Evening Festival, so it is not all available.
My Last Sermon!
Strictly speaking this wasn’t part of my series posting music, but it occurred during that same time and I did post a video – although it was only an audio version.
How Could They Not
This week of exploring just some of the huge variety of sacred music began with a Salvation Army march that brought back memories of my “early years” at Govan and I complete the circle now by returning to those same roots and choosing a song that our Songster Brigade used on many occasions.
From YP Band Days
Some of you may have seen this during the week – it is a march that I played many time in Govan YP Band and elsewhere. Brought back many memories – and is an excellent choice for my Sunday music.
Sunday Theatre
In a week of songs from the shows its appropriate that my Sunday choice should be from one of Gowans and Larsson’s Salvation Army musicals.
Stillness For Sunday
I first learned to play cornet in our Young People’s band in Govan – with my dad as YP Band Leader – so no pressure there. Then, by the time I joined the Songsters (choir for those unfamiliar with Salvation Army terminology 😉) my dad was Songster Leader. So there is probably no doubt that my “style” owed something to my father.
Boscombe Band in Rome – More Pictures
Day 2 of marking the Band’s visit to Rome – this time a small collection of the many photos that were taken during the trip.
Boscombe Band in Rome
The visit of the Band to Rome for the 125th Anniversary celebrations of the Salvation Army’s work in Italy was a recent highlight. Being invited to accompany the General for this weekend was, of course, a great honour and it was great to join with the Italian salvationists.
Salvation Army Music Camp
I have over recent weeks shared stuff about the Glasgow Schools camps and the Wessex Youth Orchestra tour – today it is the turn of the Scottish Salvation Army music camps. Many of my facebook friends appear in this little video 😉
