My Facebook memories reminded me that this event took place six years ago today and this is perhaps a perfect choice of music for these times.
Brass
Band Tour Of Florida
A few weeks ago I shared a video of some photos of the band’s visit to Sweden in 1990. That proved popular, so today we have something similar.
An Ironic Choice?
My Sunday offerings have been dominated by unaccompanied vocal music since I shared Mountain Camp – so time to change that.
One Of The Greatest
It wasn’t my original plan, but when I saw that today would have been Dennis Brain’s 99th birthday it seemed as though I ought to have him playing something.
Flying Sticks
Its time that my “funny moments” anecdotes included something from the percussion section. I have certainly had my fair share of flying stick moments and an assortment of other mishaps. I suspect that there are a couple of songsters at Cardiff who are still having nightmares about the close thing they had with the bouncing bomb that was my double headed bass drum mallet 😲😂
My Brass Banding
It was inevitable that somewhere in the list of “types of musical group I have participated in” I would eventually get to Brass Bands as that has been where the majority of my music making has been done.
Cats (Not The Musical)
On Sunday I shared some music played by our Brass Ensemble, Glorianna. Much of the influence that was behind the creation of that group was from the wonderful Philip Jones Brass Ensemble. The music that they played was varied from the very old to music commissioned for the ensemble itself.
Glorianna On The Mountain
A March – Mountain Camp – for Sunday morning played by Glorianna.
Horn Sound
It is no surprise that these posts may well be dominated by Horns and music by composers who wrote good horn parts. Today’s choice is from an album that would undoubtedly have been in my 20 if I wasn’t restricting that to LPs.
Music Exam
Today’s choice is another piece of music dating back to school years – in this case to school exams.
