Change Of Style

There are many great musicians around who are masters within their chosen genre – a much less common skill is the ability to really pull it off when switching from one style to another – plenty of examples of people not quite managing that! Wynton Marsalis is just one example – I have heard him play classical and jazz effortlessly.

One of the the two trumpet players in last night’s clip performed today’s choice in the same concert – showing that he is amongst the select few who can manage that. This is, of course, a famous solo within the Salvation Army – I think that this performance is an admirable one.
