A few times before I have suggested that it was a case of “now for something completely different” in these daily music shares – well today it really is!!
What Sweeter Music Indeed
Tonight I bow to what seems inevitable at Christmas and share something from John Rutter.
Brass At Last!
Two weeks in and no seasonal Brass music 😱. I’m correcting that omission today with a clip of the Canadian Brass – 1999 version – the lineup has changed over the years and everyone will have their own favourite era – I personally don’t think this one has been bettered! Lots of good Christmas music – and some tubular bells as well.
A Calming Down After Yesterday
This is a text that has been set by many composers through the years – this is one of the older ones, sublimely sung by The Sixteen
A Slumber Song
All that running round the piano in yesterday’s video probably left you needing a rest – so here is something to let you relax.
A Wander Round A Piano
From yesterday’s quite ‘formal’ Ceremony of Carols we switch to something which is best described as a “bit of fun”. Up until now I have managed to avoid sharing anything that has recently appeared in my own newsfeed – however I think that this version is so different from what I heard earlier today that I can get away with a duplication of carol…..
A Ceremony Of Carols
Something very different from yesterday (and actually from all my previous seasonal offerings). I am pretty sure that we sang some of this in our school choir (I think “There is no Rose” and “Deo Gracias”). It is actually 12 separate little sections rather than one whole piece of music.
Winter Daydreams
There are plenty of “big pieces” to choose from with some sort of ‘seasonal’ theme – especially if the theme is winter rather than specifically Christmas.
The Songwriter Sings
The song that I was going to share today has already appeared in my newsfeed this morning – so I will save that for another time! This is a more than adequate replacement….
Queen Goes To Bethlehem
A bit of fun today…
