Today’s “big” piece is a symphony that is not part of what I perceive to be the “well known” classical repertoire. Indeed I can’t actually remember how I came across this one.
Year: 2020
My Tribute
I first heard this song more than a few years ago at a Scottish SA Congress. The visiting section was (if I remember correctly) the band from Örebro and they had with them a vocal soloist. She sang this with a male voice “backing group” more than once over the weekend and it stuck in my head for a long time.
Staying In Italy…
An Italian Overture today – this one has a story attached.
Some Italian Calm
For the more calming Friday music we stay with Italy. A composer/performer today who has plenty of options when it comes to “calm”.
Boscombe Band in Rome – More Pictures
Day 2 of marking the Band’s visit to Rome – this time a small collection of the many photos that were taken during the trip.
Boscombe Band in Rome
The visit of the Band to Rome for the 125th Anniversary celebrations of the Salvation Army’s work in Italy was a recent highlight. Being invited to accompany the General for this weekend was, of course, a great honour and it was great to join with the Italian salvationists.
More Italian Music on Brass
Sticking with Italian music today. An arrangement for brass of Respighi’s Pines of Rome. It is played by an all star group that was brought together specifically for the occasion.
Back To Brass
Like last week the “big choice” this Monday is a little different – not one very long piece of music but rather a collection of short ones – from the video title I have linked to the album playlist so you can listen to as few or as many that you want to.
It Is Well
I had pencilled this one in for today quite a few days ago and strangely this song has come up on my FB feed several times in different formats in the last few days – so I guess this is meant to be for someone.
Its Mozart – But Not As You Know It
Think it is time for something lighter – this is from Mozartwoche Salzburg a few years ago and I am sure it will bring a smile – mostly to my Scottish friends!!🏴🏴
