OK – so a few things came together for today’s choice – we have had a week of horn solos – so today we have lots of horns – yesterday I mentioned the Wiener Waldhornverein, so I thought I would choose something from them – what I have ended up with though is the Vienna Horns (who I suspect are members of the Waldhornverein anyway).
I had fun looking to see which video to share – there are lots of good ones. I was originally intending to choose something bright and lively for today – didn’t turn out that way.
When I was in living and working in Wien we made use of the cinema on the Schottenring which was the only one in town that showed english language films – so we didn’t get to have much choice as to what to watch (there was one other cinema – but that showed “The Third Man” all the time๐).
One film that we went to see was “Out of Africa” – if you have not seen the film it is very good, has wonderful photography, lovely music, but is very (VERY) slow and lets say it isn’t exactly a film that you come to the end of feeling uplifted and go dancing down the street (not that I have actually done that after any film ๐)! (at this point it would be good to tag Chris Clark as I am sure he remembers this film – but perhaps Dave Thomas remembers the story – “I had a farm in Africa…..”!!)
So – this works as another peaceful interlude in your day if that is what you need (and it is very good horn playing)

Thanks for this, George. A few comments…
1. You appear to have a thing about horns.
2. Only two films have made me want to dance down the street, both musicals. “Sunshine on Leith” and, more recently, “Yesterday”.
“Bohemian Rhapsody” is also a standout, but not really for dancing!
3. You appear to have a thing about horns.*
* I realise that 1 and 3 are similar, but it is a biggie ๐
Orrabest!

Not sure what makes you think I have a thing about horns ๐ค I’ll try to do something about it!!
As for dancing down the street – perhaps it is true that I have probably never done that after watching a film – but I was struggling to express exactly how we felt after watching this and I don’t think our mood could have been further from dancing down the street.
Having said that – I seem to remember we had a good laugh about how depressing it was….. ๐๐
