Oops – bit late with this one….
This is a new video but it triggered a memory for me. When I attended the International Horn Symposium to celebrate the centenary of the Wienerwaldhornverein. Apart from concerts, lectures and playing there was a number of social events including one at a hunting lodge outside Wien where we were treated to a great meal and some good playing which was focussed a bit on music for hunting horns.
The programme that night included the Rossini that opens this short concert by the Berlin Phil’s horn section. Given the setting it almost certainly included the Weber as well – but I don’t remember that one specifically.
Berlin Philharmonic Horn Quartet : Hunting Concert
00:12 Gioacchino Rossini: Le rendez-vous de chasse
04:22 Franz Schubert: Der Lindenbaum
06:06 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Komm, lieber Mai
07:08 Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy: O Täler weit, o Höhen
09:09 Carl Maria von Weber: Der Freischütz op. 77 | Act III, No. 15: Hunters’ Chorus
