I heard this a couple of years ago and “filed it away” to listen to again. Like yesterday’s music this perhaps sounds a bit ‘unusual’ to those who are not used to it. The music of the orthodox churches seems to me to be mesmeric and haunting.

A few years ago, we were living in Hurstpierpoint, with a load of posh neighbours. We would often encounter Jimmy Hill, Des Lynam and Paul Daniels in the village. We would also frequently see John Taverner, driving has open-top Bentley (?), his long hair flowing behind.
Anyway, as I am sure you know, he specialised in this style of music, and he was very good at it. Awesome choral music, although it must be very monotonous for those with the bass line!
