A Flying Memory

Today’s music evokes a specific memory – but not a specific place, unless you count the inside of a plane 😃

I became very familiar with the route between London Heathrow and Wien Schwechat during my time living in Vienna – passing over Belgium and France before skirting the Alps. I always ensured a seat on the “alps side” of the plane because of the magnificent view of the mountains.

At around that time I had been to see the National Theatre’s marvellous production of “The Mysteries” at the Lyceum Theatre and the recording of the music was part of my regular “playlist” – well before anyone had invented the word playlist….. On one trip as the Alps came into view this song started playing – and on future trips I made sure the same happened….

This music came at the end of The Nativity – it is perhaps a bit early for a Christmas Carol, but I’ve always associated this recording with the magnificence of creation.
