I have previously mentioned that I first heard this concerto played by David Krehbiel – sadly not a recording that is available. However Michael Thompson does an excellent job here. When I was attending many concerts in Glasgow he was the principal horn of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra – a post that he won when just 18.
