A Scottish Symphony

Going to be some music from and inspired by Scotland over the next few days. Don’t worry – no bagpipes (yet) – I will let you in easily.

I played this with the Scottish Universities Orchestra in what was (I am pretty sure) my most northerly concert – in Elgin. The conductor was Brian Wright (not that one!!). I have linked the video through to the last movement – there is a great horn tune about three minutes from the end (possibly one of the few bits that sound a bit Scottish!!).

This isn’t probably as well known as his Italian Symphony – but I think I prefer it.

Felix Mendelssohn : Symphony No.3 – 4th Movt.
