He Really Was A Happy Fella😂

Returning again to this weeks ‘theme’ I spent the last week before I moved from Glasgow to Bournemouth travelling up to Stirling each evening to play in the pit orchestra for the production of The Most Happy Fella (one of my few professional music gigs).

On the first night I think the ‘star’ of the show had taken the title too literally as he had quite clearly imbibed rather too much and he was indeed a “Happy Fella” – but couldn’t manage to get all his cues right 😂

There were actually a great many laughs that week – the pit itself was one that could be raised or lowered and in order for the conductor to be seen well from the stage it was indeed about a foot above its lowest point. This resulted in a step in the middle of the orchestra with those at the back lower. It was inevitable that at one point there was a squeal as an oboe player pushed the back legs of her chair over the precipice.😲😂😂

Perhaps the most famous song from this show is “Standing on the Corner” – but I decided to link a less well known one.
