No horns or percussion in sight with this choice! This is, most certainly, a piece of music by a composer that I would not have expected to feature in my selection.
I’ve been trying to remember why I encountered this piece of music many years ago – certainly couldn’t have played it – but it was in my listening repertoire comparatively early. Will have to search my LP collection to see what recording it was 😃
Originally for string sextet – I prefer the richer sound of the full string orchestra.
