A Slavonic Mass

Normally I post a “big piece” on a Monday – this week I am bringing it forward a day to share something that has been on my “post on a Sunday” list for some time.

I heard this performed by a Czech choir and Orchestra (although I can’t remember which one) in a concert when I was living in Wien. It was music that I did not know at the time – but the sounds were thrilling. Having said that, I can understand that this will not be to everyone’s taste.

Janacek’s sound is – to my mind – quite unique. My first share last year was of the fanfare from his Sinfonietta – those with long memories may remember my remark about the number of Tympani used in that – here he has added even more. You know when you see that many lined up then there must be something good coming 😃

Hope some of you enjoy this one….

George R McConnell well as it’s said, if you’re gonna have an organ, you might as well go for a big’un, this doesn’t disappoint 👏👏👏 😂🤣
