Now Spanish Dancing

Tonight’s “unusual” music is ballet music – and I think it may well be the first ballet music that I have shared. It certainly was the first ballet music that I played. This is not the whole ballet – but a suite of dances from it.

I think this matches the selection that we played back then in the Glasgow High School under the baton of Julian Dawson who was the assistant conductor (to Alexander Gibson) of the SNO. That concert was played by the “winter” version of the Glasgow School’s orchestra.

Unlike -the summer one which was an intensive couple of residential weeks – the winter version rehearsed over a few months (if I remember correctly – I’m sure someone will correct me if I don’t!!) ending in a concert in the March.

This is yet another piece of music that is great fun to play
