Unexpected Links

A “like” by one of my LInkedIn connections highlighted an “interesting” coming together of an assortment of things that (probably) is only “interesting” (or perhaps significant) to me. The reason that it has made its way into the blog is not so much because of the article itself but because it is such a good illustration of things “coming together” in a specific way, for a specific person.

A Lesson Learned (On Being Stuck)

I’ve started on my newest online creation – partially inspired by the making memories series of posts here – to create a bit of a “life history” – a treasure trove of memories (probably real and imagined if you have read some of my previous writing on the subject) – a pot-pourri of little highlights (and possibly some lowlights) of my life.

The Psychopath Test

The Psychopath Test
This book is described as ‘comical’ and full of ‘belly laughs’ – hmmm… – I have to admit that although there were many quite funny descriptions, the overall feeling I got from the tales that was told was one of concern about the “state of mind” of many of those written about – on both sides of the “psychopath” wall. What Do We Leave Behind?

None of us is immortal – as someone (probably lots of people) once said “everybody dies” – although few know beforehand exactly when that is going to happen. The longer the list, the less chance that you will actually complete it!

Drama With A Hefty Dose of Reality

Whenever something dramatic happens there is a (very natural) tendency to treat it as “all bad” or “all good” – a mistake surely as it is extremely rare that any event hits either of those extremes, even more so when the event is far reaching either by dint of the number of people affected or due to the length of time involved. Rather there will be a mixture of good consequences and bad ones – all of which need to be taken account of to determine whether the event was beneficial or detrimental in the long term to the wider community.

A Modicum Of Doubt

Many say it is of vital importance to hold true to your beliefs. Belief is a concept that is central to “being human”. I would like to suggest that it is more important to have doubts. That Doubt is not so much central to “being” as to “becoming”.
