Most recent years on Maundy Thursday I would have been listening to our Band play this piece of music. Many of the tracks from our Easter CD were featured this time last year (the videos are all available on the Band website) but this track wasn’t included.

More Bach For Easter
It turns out that the composer who, perhaps surprisingly, has the most entries in my playlist over the last months is the person who is getting another bit of publicity tonight.
An Odd Choice?
No horns or percussion in sight with this choice! This is, most certainly, a piece of music by a composer that I would not have expected to feature in my selection.
Completing the “Elgar Set”
Tonight’s big work is Elgar’s 1st Symphony.
The Joy Of Music From Melk
This evening we have brass and organ music from the rather magnificent Melk Abbey in Austria.
Some Traditional Chinese Music
During the time that I lived in Wien I think that I attended musical events of various types much more frequently that at any other time in my life. The sheer number of options meant that whilst it was easy to find something that was filled with music that you already know and love it was also possible to try the unfamiliar – and I did so on quite a few occasions.
A Scottish Band
I was reasonably sure that I had previously shared something by this band – but it seems that it never made it to the list 😃 So I will correct that now.
What a Birthday Present
Another belated post tonight – so music suitable for this time of the night – will hopefully soothe you to sleep.
Right First Time
As horn solos go – they don’t come much more immediate and exposed than this…
Is That House
I like to switch things around. so here is something very different from yesterday’s share. Different setting, different musical style, different mood – and a soloist that some might find surprising.
