There is no doubt that if this blog goes the same way as the one that I have previously published privately then a significant number of the posts will result from the discovery of a really apt quote or article that resonates with my own views. This post is one such and is inspired by words from Viktor Frankl.
On Friends
A few things have triggered me to think about friends recently – yes, I know I always will be thinking about friends, but I mean here thinking about the ‘concept’ of friends rather than the people themselves!
A Blogging Newbie
You might think so, but the reality is that I have been doing the non-web version of blogging for a long time and, indeed, I’ve even had a real blog for a few years on our company intranet – so with a limited (very limited??) readership. Since originally writing this post I have added some posts which predate it – either in describing some event or because I wrote it “back then”.
Contemplation No.6
These contemplations were written in Vienna in May and June 1986. They are entirely unstructured and split into the separate sessions when I originally wrote them. They are, perhaps my first ever blogs although that long ago there was no www around to host the blog 😂 that is how old I am. They can be seen as an early attempt to “feed my ignorance” in precisely the way that this blog later took form. They are, of course, representative of my thoughts back then which have inevitably changed in many ways since that time.

The Marathon Marathon
I never intended to become a runner – however, having managed to complete a marathon, there were soon some goals and ambitions – most of which remain unfulfilled I have to admit – especially the fact that I never did make it to the Honolulo Marathon. I did, though, do the “Holy Grail” race – the Athens Marathon – from Marathon to Athens, finishing in the old Olympic Stadium.
