A Blogging Newbie

You might think so, but the reality is that I have been doing the non-web version of blogging for a long time and, indeed, I’ve even had a real blog for a few years on our company intranet – so with a limited (very limited??) readership.

The general idea of blogging is, I guess, not really new – it is merely taking the ideas of the likes of Pepys and Boswell and bringing them into the 21st Century.  Everyone who has ever written a diary has done exactly the same as today’s bloggers are doing.  I suspect that there have been as many, if not more, types of diary as there are types of blog.

I actually think that blogging/Web 2.0 technology is extremely important to our society and I am in many ways disappointed that it has taken me so long to get this far and actually push something online.

Having said that, the big problem with the technology is what is tagged information overload and, yes, every new blogger adds to that problem! Of course, there is the question of whether it is of any interest to anyone – well I am not the judge of that and I shall be concentrating on educating myself, so really if anyone else gains something as well – then it is a bonus.
