The full title is “Winning Anywhere – the Power of ‘See’: The N-E-M-E Way”. Dibyendu De, the author, is one of my connections on LinkedIn – and never fails to impress me with his insights. Could be confirmation bias at work here, but never mind!
Learning
An Unlikely Chain Of Events
There are a lot of different things that trigger the thoughts that end up expressed here in the blog. This particular post was inspired by a post on LinkedIn – I responded and then felt that it was appropriate to elaborate just a little here.
What Good Is That?
This is a ‘first’ in my blogs – I am starting to write this without knowing where it is going to end up! The trigger was the thought that I enjoy learning – I will ‘devour’ new information – I often follow trails through the world wide web and find myself at places that I didn’t envisage when I started on the journey.
Being Wrong

This book almost perfectly matches my own world view – now, perhaps that is simply an instance of one of the dangers warned against in the book – confirmation bias – but I would like to think that it is more than that.
Divided By A Common Language
There is some doubt over the attribution of this quote, however there is absolutely no doubt in my mind of its truth – and not just between nations as originally suggested but between all sorts of groups who have developed their own ‘local’ language variants.
Dealing With Dilemmas
One of the consequences of realising that other people are different to ourselves and, therefore, will not necessarily react in the way that you expect to situations is that we are often faced with dilemmas in interpersonal relationships because our behaviour will determine the way that the relationship progresses.
Mein Weltanschauung
Although a few of my previous posts have hinted at this subject I think that now that I have got the initial burst of activity on the blog out of the way it is time to make a clearer statement of where my thoughts are coming from and, therefore, put some context on to the content of the blog.
Of course, in keeping with the overall theme of the blog I should stress that this is work in progress and “feeding my ignorance” remains the main aim – trying to identify the context for this is important, but it does not mean that the context is fixed. As my learning increases, so the context may shift.
World 2.1 – Part 2
The advent of what is collectively known as social networking requires a rethink of how we relate to and communicate with other people both inside our businesses and in day to day life. This post is focussed on the former, but the lessons can be carried across with a significant degree of validity.
On Seeing (Inventing?) Patterns
It is a well known fact that we humans have a built in propensity to identify patterns where none exist; to see causal linkages that are, at best, tenuous; to attribute to skill something that was the result of good luck; and to imply intention where none was meant.
World 2.1 – Part 1
This is another post inspired by one that I have previously posted on the company intranet, but which has much wider implications. That one was entitled World 2.0 – the change this time is to reflect the fact that my own thinking has moved on since then. The new forms of interaction available to us in this day and age require that we rethink the way in which we can relate to others.
