Flowers make very good photo subjects – they don’t complain about the photos being unflattering and don’t mind posing for a long time!! As a result I have quite a few floral pictures – these are some of the ones I like best.

I am not a great fan of ‘photoshopping’ images however there is an unclear line between what is done to an image to ‘correct’ it and what is editing it to be something different. These images are very definitely changed – one way or another – so I guess this is my creative side coming out.

My eye was caught by an article on the BBC website – as much as by the fact that it seemed to be reporting “old news” as by the headline itself. However, having navigated to the page I discovered that it was, indeed, a good piece – if slightly spoiled by being rather one-sided.
I’ve started on my newest online creation – partially inspired by the making memories series of posts here – to create a bit of a “life history” – a treasure trove of memories (probably real and imagined if you have read some of my previous writing on the subject) – a pot-pourri of little highlights (and possibly some lowlights) of my life.
I was a bit surprised to find that it is three years since I last read anything by Neal Stephenson. So far this is living up to expectations.
This book is described as ‘comical’ and full of ‘belly laughs’ – hmmm… – I have to admit that although there were many quite funny descriptions, the overall feeling I got from the tales that was told was one of concern about the “state of mind” of many of those written about – on both sides of the “psychopath” wall. The very Catch-22 situation that “Tony” found himself in I think typified the whole book’s message.
Just a few days after I was pontificating on the difficulties of defining what it meant to be a “drug free” athlete the headlines at the Olympics have once again swung towards someone who has an “unfair advantage” through no fault of her own.
