A Frosty Christmas Eve
Seems like a good time to wish everyone a Happy Christmas - within whatever restrictions that you find yourselves at the moment. I think that most people will find Christmas 2020 to be rather different from any previous year!
...
Today we have a setting by Gerald Finzi of Robert Bridges poem "Noel: Christmas Eve 1913".
This takes me back to 1979 - I didn't know this piece before it was programmed for the Christmas concert that year. It has become one of the 'fixtures' in my listening since then. It is music that is certainly evocative. Hope you enjoy it, whether you have heard it before or not.
When I decided to share In Terra Pax today it meant that there was certainly going to be two shares - this is a different setting of the same poem - and I would often listen to these two one after the other - usually the Finzi would be first - because they both conjure up particular images of the season.
This is a very different version - perhaps some will find it more to their taste - I don't know - I like both 😃
