The Long War

The first book in this series, The Long Earth, was mildly baffling - not because of the story itself but because it left me with a "why" question mark about the point of the story. Having read this second book the puzzle is slightly reduced but only because it now seems clear that the authors have a vision (or at least an intent) to have a number of books and therefore the first was very much an introduction to the concept and the characters. Yes, the second has more of a story (or actually stories), but it still leaves unanswered "what's the point"!! Still - interesting idea and interesting read - makes you think a bit even if you are not sure why..... |
