The first one was announced and I stood up &#8211; my accompanist (I can&#8217;t remember who it was) played me an A and I blew into my horn to check the tuning.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->No sound&#8230;..<\/p>\n<p>I blew harder&#8230; &#8211; still nothing (apart from getting rather more red in the face \ud83d\ude30)<\/p>\n<p>Not knowing what to do next, I probably suggested they sing a chorus (or something) and disappeared backstage to investigate.<\/p>\n<p>After checking all the slides\/valves etc I discovered that the cause of my problem was the fact that I had kept my mouthpiece in my pocket to do some surreptitious buzzing and a small piece of rolled up paper had got jammed in it &#8211; of course, the harder I was blowing, the more it was getting stuck. \ud83e\udd23\ud83e\udd23<\/p>\n<p>Quite possibly my most embarrassing moment as a soloist.
