{"id":2291,"date":"2021-03-14T13:31:58","date_gmt":"2021-03-14T13:31:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/systemsthink.co.uk\/wordpress\/?p=2291"},"modified":"2025-05-26T18:14:23","modified_gmt":"2025-05-26T18:14:23","slug":"a-slavonic-mass","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/systemsthink.co.uk\/wordpress\/a-slavonic-mass\/","title":{"rendered":"A Slavonic Mass"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Normally I post a &#8220;big piece&#8221; on a Monday &#8211; this week I am bringing it forward a day to share something that has been on my &#8220;post on a Sunday&#8221; list for some time.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>I heard this performed by a Czech choir and Orchestra (although I can&#8217;t remember which one) in a concert when I was living in Wien. It was music that I did not know at the time &#8211; but the sounds were thrilling. Having said that, I can understand that this will not be to everyone&#8217;s taste.<\/p>\n<p>Janacek&#8217;s sound is &#8211; to my mind &#8211; quite unique. My first share last year was of the fanfare from his Sinfonietta &#8211; those with long memories may remember my remark about the number of Tympani used in that &#8211; here he has added even more.
