{"id":1808,"date":"2020-12-27T11:39:50","date_gmt":"2020-12-27T11:39:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/systemsthink.co.uk\/wordpress\/?p=1808"},"modified":"2024-12-10T23:17:09","modified_gmt":"2024-12-10T23:17:09","slug":"more-bach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/systemsthink.co.uk\/wordpress\/more-bach\/","title":{"rendered":"More Bach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Having started Christmas Day with the opening chorus of Bach&#8217;s Weihnachts Oratorium, &#8220;Jauchzet, frohlocket!&#8221; I was going to bookend it with the final chorus today &#8211; but having searched for a suitable video I decided that you should have a bigger slice of Bach.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s music is the final (6th) part in its entirety &#8211; still not too long! &#8211; which tells the story of the wise men. The outline of the story is, of course, familiar to many but I will post a translation of the libretto in a comment in case you want to follow it more precisely &#8211; as always, the music stands on its own, but I know that for some the words are necessary.<\/p>\n<p>This is taken from a complete performance by the Concentus Musicus Wien and the T\u00f6lzer Knabenchor with soloists under the direction of Nikolaus Harnoncourt.
