{"id":1482,"date":"2020-10-04T20:24:59","date_gmt":"2020-10-04T20:24:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/systemsthink.co.uk\/wordpress\/?p=1482"},"modified":"2025-06-15T21:43:04","modified_gmt":"2025-06-15T21:43:04","slug":"sunday-theatre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/systemsthink.co.uk\/wordpress\/sunday-theatre\/","title":{"rendered":"Sunday Theatre"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a week of songs from the shows its appropriate that my Sunday choice should be from one of Gowans and Larsson&#8217;s Salvation Army musicals.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Take Over Bid, Jesus Folk and Spirit were all produced in Glasgow while I was there, but I did not take part in the cast of any of them. I did though have a starring (!?!) role in the Southern Division&#8217;s production of Glory that was performed at the Wembley Conference Centre as part of the Salvation Army&#8217;s 1978 International Congress.<\/p>\n<p>This gave me the opportunity to discover that there are just as many &#8216;funny&#8217; moments for the cast on stage as there are in the orchestra pit. There are certainly plenty of times when things don&#8217;t go quite right. With John Matear as Ananias, John Gowans as Peter, and the other John on the piano &#8211; truly an all-star cast \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n<p><strong>George McConnell<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I remember it well &#8211; and also a conversation with you beforehand about which note you were going to sing on the final &#8220;cannot&#8221; &#8211; the safe one or the risky one \ud83d\ude0f<\/p>\n<p><strong>Terry Hudson<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>George R McConnell I went &#8216;risky&#8217;.
