Building a Highlights Reel
Some years ago now I wrote a post in this blog entitled You Don't Know Me - this is a sort of revisit of that subject, but with a different emphasis. The topic was brought back to mind during my "70 for 70" project contacting 'old' friends and colleagues.

Reflections Around New Year 2023
Wow - a whole year without a single post in this blog - actually well over a year ![]()

Thickening up Facebook
Its a common complaint and a justified one in my opinion that Facebook has too much "junk" and not enough content. I have been challenged over recent days over what I could do about that and this is my first attempt at formulating those thoughts.

You Don't Know Me
The subject of memories continues to throw up new nuances. The trigger for today's musing is hearing (a number of times about a number of different people) "I didn't know that X used to...." - its a phrase that is heard a lot these days.

What Do We Leave Behind?
None of us is immortal - as someone (probably lots of people) once said "everybody dies" - although few know beforehand exactly when that is going to happen. A seemingly growing trend is to generate a "bucket list" - things to do before I die - always assuming I get round to them in time that is.... The longer the list, the less chance that you will actually complete it!

Entanglement
This blog is predicated on the foundation that I don't know everything. That - I am sure everyone who knows me will agree - is a not unreasonable starting point
Sometimes it surprises me just how much is included in the not known bucket - then I think - what about all the rest that I haven't yet realised I don't know - and that makes me slightly more comfortable with having such a big list of things I don't know - it is dwarved by the (likely) list of things I don't know that I don't know!!!

Opening Up
Going back through my blog posts I guess there are many different sorts of trigger - things which spark some sort of idea in my mind that leads to some sort of outpouring here. Often, I guess, the result is quite out of proportion to the cause - many times the trigger takes me off at quite a tangent.
Time Marches On
In recent days I have had a couple of discussions about "getting old" – and more specifically about a slight feeling of disbelief about how old we actually are. Is "oldness" a state of mind – quite separate from "age" which is clearly a measure of time?

Time To Talk
Today is "Time to Talk" Day (as well as World Cancer Day) and I think that writing something on the topic is near to essential for me. It is shocking to think that the figures show that 1 in 4 people will be afflicted with Mental Health issues in their lifetime. Once upon a time that sort of thing was taboo to talk about - not now, when it seems to affect everyone - one way or another.

Is There Such A Thing As Friendly Manipulation?
It is no real surprise that when blogging on a reasonably regular basis there is a tendency for similar themes to recur. Anyone who has read through some of my posts will have seen some of these repetitive refrains and this post is yet another angle on the recurrent theme of "there is a lot of grey between black and white"!
